Intellectual Property

Intellectual property (IP) refers to creations of the mind that are legally protected from unauthorized use by others. This includes inventions, literary and artistic works, designs, symbols, and names used in commerce. IP rights allow creators to control the use of their creations and benefit financially from them.

As for InTeleSync, just about anything we touch to make work for you becomes our IP. When we supply a phone, or a router, or a network switch, or a wifi access point, or even a camera, and we're responsible for the functionality of that device, then all of the knowledge and expertise that goes into that becomes our Intellectual Property. While we may not manufacturer the device, we certainly make the device work in your environment for your specific usage, so that information is not available for public consumption beyond cursory views or basic reporting and configuration.

Why can't I have the 'admin' password to stuff I paid for?

When InTeleSync installs a device that we recommend, whether you purchase it up front directly or through our sales channel, at that point we own all of the knowledge that goes into making it work for you. Usually your hardware comes from us, and thus what you may or may not know is what we do behind the scenes for working with that hardware. The countless hours of learning about the product, getting certifications from the various manufacturers, if required, along with applying our own industry experience and expertise so as to know what to set where and when. That simply isn't information we're going to just share indescriminately with anyone outside our purview, especially with a replacement service provider or competitor.

None of the above means that your stuff cannot work again. Simply get a paperclip, find the pin hole on the equipment, and perform a factory reset and have at it. No, what we're saying is that after you've gone into the equipment, then what needs to be set or configured or programmed from that point onward is not going to be available to you or yours from InTeleSync. That's for the new responsible person or organization to figure out.

On a final note this should be understood: If your new IT person or new service provider thinks they need to know what is configured in your equipment and how in order to service you, then unequivocably that is the person or organization that you probably want to avoid. They will cost you more than you know. While knowing how things are set up with all the answers a few clicks away is certainly convenient, InTeleSync now having set up and managed literally thousands of networks over the decades, every single one of them was rebuilt and configured utilizing the aforementioned experise and know-how that only experience can bring - even when we knew the 'admin' password beforehand. So if you have to ask, or are being asked, then that's your big red flag to beware. Perhaps a second opinion is in order. Regardless, all configurations and programming that goes into the equipment supplied directly or indirectly by InTeleSync is InTeleSync's Intellectual Property (IP).
